Change

Isn't it funny how you can fall in love with a baby the minute you meet them? How does this happen? How is it that they become one of the most important things in your life in a matter of seconds?

I remember when I was younger how certain things seemed to be the most important things in the world, I suppose this is true for anyone, but when you get married things change. There is no longer the Me, Myself, and I factor. How does that change the minute you are married?

In all retrospect I use to think that I could barely take care of myself let alone a family, but now that I have my own family I can't imagine or think of one thing better and for the most part I am able to take care of more than just myself.

Although I miss the good times with friends, the road trips, the extra money and so forth I wouldn't trade what I have now for what I had then. Maybe it's maturity, maybe not but whatever it is I feel like a lucky lady to have not only a good husband but two boys that make me the happiest person I have ever been!

I have stopped wondering how these things changed me so quickly, I'm just thankful that they did. I'm thankful that I can put someone's needs before my own such as in marriage, and I'm extremely grateful that the second you see your newborn baby you are automatically in love. Sometimes I don't need an answer, I'm just thankful that I have been privileged to experience these events because it makes me a better person, it makes me happy!

It's so great to hear positive things about motherhood--so many blog posts about it are so whiny. Thank you!

It IS an amazing thing to love someone more than oneself. I had the hardest time when pregnant with #2 believing that I would love another baby equally. When he was born, I realized that the love I had was so different for each of my boys, but collectively it equalled the same thing. LOVE. I may have better/different connections with each child, but that's what makes them special to me. Their differences. Isn't it a JOY to love little boys & know that one day they may find a woman who has to pry them away from you?! ;)
